People with a small or protracted chin make good candidates for Volume Enhancement Treatments in the chin; and they are particularly common in Asian patients. Chin Enhancement aims to modify the appearance of the lower face. It may contribute to a more defined facial shape and could potentially diminish the appearance of a double chin. However, individual results may vary. This can be combined with Jaw Line Contouring and Cheek Augmentation to recreate the youthful triangle of beauty that is seen in models. Muscle Relaxant Injections and Volume Enhancement Treatments are also useful for patients with a chin that appears like an orange peel when they push their lower lip up and out. Again, this creates a more triangular and youthful appearance to the lower face.

Results from Volume Enhancement Treatments injections may be noticeable soon after the treatment. However, the full effect and individual responses can vary. Results using muscle relaxant injections can be seen between 10 – 21 days. The duration of effects from Volume Enhancement Treatments in the chin area varies, with some lasting up to 2 years. However, this can differ from person to person. You do not need to run the risk of infection and scar tissue with chin implants. Muscle Relaxant Injections will last 3 – 4 months in most cases and can vary from patient to patient.

THE TREATMENT

A chin augmentation alternative without the risks or scars

A Chin Enhancement is the act of changing the contour of the chin by making it more prominent or by providing greater definition. It is common to use filler injections or Muscle Relaxant Injections to create the augmentation. As we age, the chin pulls up and gives us an orange dimpling effect. The use of Volume Enhancement Treatments and Muscle Relaxant Injections can restore the chin to its original position; creating a stronger chin that is more triangular and youthful in appearance.

An ice pack or topical anaesthetic is applied to the area being treated. Injections are then used to deliver the muscle relaxant and/or Volume Enhancement Treatment into the chin area. There is only minimal discomfort during the procedure, and there is no need for local anaesthesia.

The risk of bruising is low. The swelling is virtually non-existent with the muscle relaxant. However, with the Volume Enhancement Treatments, the swelling can last 2 to 3 days.

What products are used for Chin Enhancement and Contouring?

Volume Enhancement Treatments are most commonly used to shape the chin. They are injected and give the appearance of a more prominent chin in people with a small or retracted chin. At Cosmos Aesthetics, we use the thickest natural Volume Enhancement Treatment on the market ensuring the best lifting effect.

Muscle Relaxant Injections are also used to soften the chin and improve the chin contouring. As we age the chin muscle (the mentalis) becomes stronger and pulls the chin up, making the chin point forward rather than south. Injecting a muscle relaxant into the chin muscle restores the chin to its original position.

Why not use implants for Chin Enhancement?

Chin implants run the risk of infections, scar tissue and are difficult to reverse if you do not like the final result. Chin Volume Enhancement Treatments tend to be favoured over chin implants because of the reversibility and the very low risk of infection.

How long does the Chin Enhancement procedure last?

Volume Enhancement Treatments injected into the chin can last up to 2 years. Today with the longevity of the Volume Enhancement Treatments, you do not need to run the risk of infection and scar tissue with chin implants.
